UPDATE: We've reached the $12,000 goal - but let's not stop there! All the funds go to saving the lives of LGBT refugees... so let's keep going! Thank you so much for being a part of this!

I also know that we talk the talk. Week after week, we talk about the importance of love, equality, kindness and compassion - but today, we actually have the opportunity to walk the walk and literally save a life.

There is a well-established refugee program that is run by some amazing organizations like the very-gay Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto in coordination with the Canadian government and The Global Justice Institute. Through the program, gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender individuals in imminent, life-threatening danger are rescued and placed into the loving home of a volunteer family.

It’s incredible, life-saving work, but, of course, it’s not cheap for these organizations to do this. In fact, it costs $12,000 to sponsor one refugee. Today, let's raise $12,000 to sponsor one LGBT refugee in immediate need of rescue.

All gifts will be matched dollar-for-dollar or euro-for-euro or pound-for-pound until we reach our goal. In other words, your gift of $50 becomes $100, or $100 becomes $200. Whatever you give will go twice as far!

"I'm sorry but this is the most I can give at the moment. I'm going through a lot of financial troubles and literally have almost nothing; but I still think that no matter how bad it is for me, at least I have a home where they love me and accept me for who I am! I hope that this small amount will be at least a bit significant to your goal. Greetings from Bosnia-Herzegovina."

"I think that is really important to help those people. I've been lucky in Canada to be in a country where being gay is accepted but I really feel bad for people who did not have that chance."

"I want to donate in memory of a kid that I never had the pleasure of meeting. I don't know his name, which is why I didn't put it in the "Dedicate my donation in memory of..." space, but he committed suicide during my Junior year of high school. He was gay, and couldn't handle all the bullying at school, and all the lack of understanding at home... I wish I had been able to help him in any way I could. That's why I now donate to help others who may be struggling with the same type of problems."
Donated $15 in memory of .
